Good Samaritan

This evening while carpooling home from work we had a bit of car trouble. Scott's van over heated and when we pulled over to see what was up, it just up and died on us. So we made the necessary calls to get help and then sat there waiting (while melting I might add). Out of the blue this shiny sporty brand new Lexus, with out-of-state plates, pulls up and asks if we need help. Scott explained the situation and the guy tells him his coolant isn't diluted and that might be part of the problem. He had a little water in a jug in his car, but then he said to hold tight and he would be back with more. He went and refilled his jug and drove up the frontage road and handed the jug to us over the freeway fence. The water did the trick and soon the van had cooled enough for us to make a slow but steady trek the rest of the way home. This guy had no reason to stop, we weren't trying to flag anyone down, but he did anyway. He was in a pressed shirt and a fancy car, yet he was the lone person who thought to stop and lend a helping hand. All this man did was get us some water, but what a difference he made. So, what have you done for a stranger today?

By the time I got home I just wanted to enjoy the cool AC. So Brad sat with me while I ate a microwave burrito and then we snuggled down to watch "The Bone Collector". Brad had to head to work before the movie was over, but I got to stay all cozy on the couch. So all in all today was a great day. Didn't get all the things accomplished tonight that I had hoped, but I had it pretty darn good!

ok- another song for our daily quote, but hey it is soooo appropriate :)

"Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need?Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad? If not, I have failed indeed. Has anyone’s burden been lighter today Because I was willing to share? Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way? When they needed my help was I there?

[Chorus]Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure,
a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.

There are chances for work all around just now, Opportunities right in our way. Do not let them pass by, saying, “Sometime I’ll try,”But go and do something today.’Tis noble of man to work and to give; Love’s labor has merit alone. Only he who does something helps others to live. To God each good work will be known."--

Thank you for the great reminder, and a wonderful start to my day. Last night I was on an emotional downward slide, so naturally this morning was no better, until I read your blog post for the day.
I love you so much my sweet daughter!
